The FBI on a brief report said that the killer is responsible for nearly 45 rapes, 12 homicides and multiple burglary cases, between the year 1976 and 1986 in the areas of San Francisco, Sacramento and Los Angeles area.

Few Television channels in the recent times explored in to crimes of man who was primarily known to be “East Area Rapist” and later as the Gold State killer” as a symbolic figure to attract the interest of people in identifying the suspect, the man has now been apprehended by the Police authorities.

The Authorities arrested, Joseph James DeAngelo, a 72 year old ex police officer, who appears to fit the above description, after he allegedly molested and killed many people multiple times, across the state of California according to the history of criminal records found on him.

Two murder charges overnight by the police in Sacramento, drove them to catch the Golden State killer. On Tuesday night The authorities took DeAngelo , in to their custody, who is suspected of terrorizing the communities throughout the state of California including few regions of the Bay Area between the years 1976 to 1986.

District Attorney of Sacramento Anne Marie Schubert, said at a news briefing on Wednesday fore noon that the arrest on charges of two murder cases let down to the DNA of the killer.

Schubert added saying that its fitting today as NATIONAL DNA Day. We identified the needle in the haystack and it was right here in Sacramento.

DeAngelo was charged on reports of murdering Sacramento couple Brain and Kate Maggiore in February 1978,Now the convict is being held without Bail in the Sacramento County jail, according to the official records.

He is also faces the charges of murder slayings, in the year 1980 in Ventura County, as reported by County’s district Attorney Gregory D. Totten on Wednesday.
