Uttar Pradesh to get India’s First University for Transgenders

Uttar Pradesh will open its first university for transgenders. The university which will get opened in the Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh will be the first university for transgenders in India. It aims in providing education for the students right from class one to PG and even get a PhD degree.

The university will be established in the Fazilnagar block of Kushinagar district and is being built by the Akhil Bhartiya Kinnar Siksha Seva Trust (All-India transgender education service trust).

Dr Krishna Mohan Mishra mentioned it being the first of its kind in educating transgenders and that the initiation has already been made.

“It is the first of its kind in the country where members of transgender community will be able to get education and the process of has already been initiated. From January 15 next year, two children who are brought up by the community members will get admission and from February and March other classes will start,” Dr Krishna Mohan Mishra, president of the trust said.

“In the university, the transgender community will be able to study right from class one to PG and even do research and get PhD degree,” he said.
